Why BOOK☆WALKER is the go-to for enjoying manga in Japanese
In this article, you'll find insights on how to get your hands on your favorite Japanese manga titles.
This blog introduces Japanese manga works (original editions) that are helpful for beginners in Japanese language learning to improve their skills. The intended audience consists of people who do not reside in Japan. Recently, there are numerous services for Japanese e-books available to those living outside of Japan, making it the most convenient option. Among these services, BOOK☆WALKER , a part of the Kadokawa Group, is highly recommended. I will explain the reasons for this.
You can use both the Global Store (English version) and the Japan Store with the same account.
The Global Store exclusively provides English e-books, while the Japan Store mainly offers Japanese e-books. You can access both stores using a single account. All information in the Global Store is in English. New members can register at either store, allowing even those who are not proficient in Japanese to start using the service without stress.
Depending on your level of Japanese proficiency, you might need to rely on automatic translation when purchasing Japanese works from the Japan Store. Nonetheless, for non-native Japanese speakers, this service appears to impose significantly less burden when starting to use it.
There is a subscription service for unlimited reading of manga, magazines, and light novels.
As a service of the Japan Store, there is a flat-rate service where you can access over 90 manga magazines, more than 30,000 hardcover volumes, and over 20,000 light novels and literary works.
Since it is available at a reasonable price, I believe it offers significant benefits to those who simply want to immerse themselves in Japanese as much as possible.
There are two types of unlimited reading services.
Unlimited Reading MAX Course:
Offering over 90 manga magazines, more than 30,000 hardcover volumes, and over 20,000 light novels and literary works. Enjoy all unlimited reading titles. Monthly fee: 1,100 yen (tax included).
Unlimited Reading Manga Course:
Providing over 90 manga magazines and more than 30,000 manga hardcover volumes. Enjoy manga and magazines. Monthly fee: 836 yen (tax included).
※New users can enjoy a free trial for 14 days.
Some important points to note
・When using BOOK☆WALKER from outside Japan, there may be some books that cannot be purchased.
・Since the Global Store and Japan Store are operated on separate websites, purchase history and points are managed separately on each site.
・Campaign details may differ between the Global Store and Japan Store.
・It is not possible to change the language of purchased e-books from Japanese to English, or from English to Japanese.
※Please note that the above information may be subject to change, so please check with each store for details.
